Jack and the Beanstalk

The students are making their way to the top of the beanstalk as we experience many fairy tales! As they climb the paper beanstalk in our classroom their real beanstalks are taking off as well. The students are learning the different parts of the bean plant and the process of its growth, we hope it will reach the castle in the clouds before too long! Our fairy tale and spring unit is allowing us to study fiction and non fiction literature and many students are choosing non fiction literature to take home from the library. It is an exciting time in our classroom right now and every day seems to have a special event, drop in and share in our fun!

An exciting start to April!!

Wow! What a fun start to the month of April! Our visit from the bread lady was educational and delicious too! We discovered that all our kindergarten students are exceptional bakers!! Not only did the students learn all about wheat growing and harvesting and turning it into flour, but they baked spectacular bread!! The students worked hard and were rewarded for their efforts by making cinnamon twists and having them for snack! The smell in our class and the hallways was mouth watering. The students also got to play with a wide variety of educational centers provided by the bread lady! After filling our bellies with cinnamon twists and taking home a fresh baked loaf of bread the students woke up on Friday to a pancake breakfast at school. The pancakes were excellent and it was fun wearing pjs at school too! Later that morning we enjoyed a wonderful play put on by the Duffle Bag Theatre!! I don't know how we will top all that fun next week!!
