January Highlights!

What a busy beautiful January we are having. The weather warmed up enough to have a couple of fantastic sledding days and we are hoping for more of that to come. When we weren't out in the winter weather we were inside imagining ourselves in a tropical place as we all dressed up for our school's tropical day! Just pretending for a day made our month a little bit brighter. Next came our visit from Peter Rabbit from the John Janzen Nature Center. He planned super fun activities for us and taught us all about hibernation, migration and camouflage. The students got to dress up in animal costumes as well. The best part of the presentation was looking at and touching real animal fur from different animals. The bear claws were scary to some! As far as academics go the students are working hard in learning their sounds with jolly phonics and next month we will concentrate on printing our letters as well.

December Highlights!

December flew by and with it some exciting events and activities. The beginning of December had a visit from TLC Dental Clinic with the dentist and assistant giving their time to teach our students about dental care! The students were left with knowledge and a variety of dental products. Thanks TLC!! Next we spent the month doing all kinds of gingerbread man activities, including reading a variety of Gingerbread Man stories and believe it or not the Gingerbread Girl was the one to outsmart that wily fox!! The students had lots of fun retelling the gingerbread man story and counting and patterning gingerbread men. The biggest highlight was decorating gingerbread cookies with our grade six buddies and finding our missing gingerbread man on our gingerbread hunt when he ran away!! December also included Christmas activities, a favourite being our "Santa's Workshop," where the students used their imaginations and creativity to create many wonderful homemade gifts!! The month ended with our last day of school Christmas activities, including building "christmas trees," with cups! Our Christmas concert was a huge success with our students showing off their singing talents. Thanks kinder's for a job well done!! The following pictures show a few of our December highlights! Enjoy.
